Abstract

This collection of articles is focused on the preservation and research issues of the dialects of the Lithuanian language, languages of other European countries and neighbouring regions, i.e. on the cultural heritage which has formed in the run of the centuries. Both general and specific problems pertaining to the history and dialectology of the Baltic, Slavonic and other Indo-European languages are covered in the five chapters of this publication. in addition, the status of dialects in the beginning of the 21st century, the geolinguistic situation, and the issues of linguistic and national identity are also included here. Moreover, an analysis of lexicological and lexicographic phenomena is rather extensively presented in this issue. the collection includes several interdisciplinary papers
