The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania could be qualified as an institution protecting human rights. Different aspects of human rights are invoked in the rulings of the Constitutional Court. The chapter addresses the advantages and disadvantages of an individual’s right to apply directly to the Constitutional Court. The last two chapters introduce international and regional human rights institutions – their status and their purpose. The author concentrates on the analysis of the admissibility requirements used by the international human rights bodies and regional (European, American, African) human rights institutions and the effectiveness of their decisions.
