Abstract
The article highlights the integrity of values and analyzes the content of human respect as one of the most important principles of professional ethics of Lithuanian judges. The vectors of implementing this principle in practice are also analyzed. Practical implementation of professional ethics provisions is an integral part of the general judicial activity and a part of the strengthening of the image of the judiciary, which allows the public to assess not only the quantitative results of court activities, but also qualitative factors such as the person's expectations in defense of human rights, and, at the same time to assess the general level of public trust in courts.
The aim of the article is when analyzing the decisions of the Judicial Ethics and Discipline Commission, to examine the content of the principle of human respect and the main vectors of its implementation in practice. The article consists of two parts. The first part analyzes the essence and content of the principle of human respect. The second part, through the prism of the Judicial Ethics and Discipline Commission decisions, analyzes how this principle is implemented in practice. The interpretation of the principle of human respect is bound by the judge's relationship with other persons. Respect for another person is integrally manifested through values such as exemplary conduct, attentiveness, tact, honesty, decency.
The analysis of the decisions of Judicial Ethics and Discipline Commission showed that there are violations in implementation of the principle of human respect in practice. Violation of the principle of human respect can be done both by the judge's active actions and inaction. It was also determined that the Judicial Ethics and Discipline Commission, when assessing compliance with the implementation of the principle of human respect often assesses in complex the internal attitudes of a judge as well as external actions.
In the context of implementing human respect, judge's behavior is most often assessed through the prism of the process participants as observers. Therefore, the role of the parameters of the judge's personality is especially emphasized – the importance of the need of emotional intellect and ethics for the language and culture of the judge. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly develop the parameters of the judge's personality. This could be developed and strengthened not only through the analysis and dissemination of the Commission's decisions, but also through various other didactic tools: Commission consultations, training with practical ethical issues analysis, etc.
