Expression of informal learning is getting more and more significant in modern world. Work with biographies is used as one of the possible investigative strategies of detecting competences that have been got informally. Consequently, the purpose of the work is to reveal the peculiarities of biographical method that are significant in analyzing informal learning. After analyzing pedagogical and psychological scientific works, several findings were formulated. Firstly, there is no general perception of conception and ideas of informal learning. Descriptions varying informal learning provide a possibility for different interpretations. Secondly, informal learning is influenced by a certain period of life and cultural traditions, marks of values and entrenched samples of collective activities. The construction of true-life informal learning empowers numerous transitions between different levels of orientation of conscious to an object and learning process. Thirdly, the basis of the conception of biographical method application is dialectics of a person and the society. Applying biographical method it is possible to analyze learning processes, reconstruct stratification experience, highlight cohesion samples and determine influencing factors. Application of biographical methods in the investigation of qualitative education and learning can present answers to the following problems: how people learn lifelong; what learning methods they choose; how they individually connect different learning forms; how they provide certain content with subjective meaning; how they cope with society hopes. Biographical method can reveal completeness of complexes that is typical to proficient everyday learning.
