Lithuanian police are changing and going through difficult reforms at this time. Various statistical data shows several important changes. In a past several years number of offences increased, but number of police post and police officers has decreased. Such circumstances are partly due to the increasing requirements for the statutory competence of the officers. It applies special and specific physical training. This research provides with results of officers approach to components of physical fitness education and professional skills development. During survey 186 different officers serving in various branches of the internal affairs bodies were questioned. Analyses of results expose what kind of emotions officers experience and what kind of actions are used while arresting law offenders. Also what kinds of other special measures they are usually take while arresting aggressive law offenders. Research indentifies the most effective sports that develop professional skills. The study clarified addiction of physical characteristics from service order. The results of suvery, during which police officers were questioned, disclosed the most significant, in their view, components of police officers‘ physical fitness, that are ranked in the following order: reaction time, coordination, speed, endurace (aerobic), strength, agility, flexibility. Respondents claimed, that during the detention of the offenders should participate twice more officers in comparison with detained persons. The description of negative factors, that police officers face while detaining the most aggressive offenders, generally involves negative emotions ( thrill, anxiety, fear), various circumstances (unknown terrain, bad weather conditions, darkness, etc.), rather than professional training gaps (poor ability to use combat wrestling actions and other special measures, insufficient general physical preparation). The collected data showed, that while police officers detain aggressive offenders during service, in most cases they had to withstand the kicks and blows. In extreme situations police officers usually use preferred combat wrestling actions, such as throws and strangulation actions. According to respondents, the best professional skills are developed and improved by the usage of practical situational and precision shooting, the second place goes to athletic gymnasticss, and the dual (Combat) sports are only in the third place. Exclude professional preparedness aspects that require increase attention in preparing future police officers and their qualification.
