In this article the author analyses the reform of the European Union (hereinafter - EU) competition law, however, not the entire planned competition law reform, but, according to commentators, only the most important part of the reform, which is related to the regulation of agreements restricting competition. By using a comparative analysis, the principles and the main provisions applicable in the EU and Lithuanian competition law, which regulate agreements restricting competition, are discussed in the article; the existing limitations of such regulation and the conditions influencing the aforesaid reform are also reviewed therein. By using grammatical, logical and historic methods the article also analyses the suitability of the legal background, the main principles and provisions of the planned reform, the reform’s influence on the EU and Lithuanian competition law development.
