Abstract
The articles explores socialization process of adolescent as a meaningful way of becoming an active citizen in the future knowledge society. The main point of this process is that students have not only to adopt themselves into society, but to develop certain competencies for being active creators of this society as well. The author presents some different theoretical perspectives (philosophical-social, psychological and educational) to the knowledge society. It contains some developments of the qualities of the person of tomorrow (Rogers, 1995), developments of „competencies for the good life” (Dupuy, 2001) and some modern educational strategies (education for sustainable development, life long education, education for receiving and creating information and so on). Some of the data from international comparative IEA (International Association for Evaluation of Educational Achievements) CivEd study are presented and some theoretical models of conceptualization of social information (accumulation, identification, role transfere and cognitive development) are introduced. Conclusions and some suggestions for improvement of socialization process of adolescent are developed.
