Santrauka
The article deals with data about students who entered the Mykolas Romeris University, Kaunas Police Faculty in 2002 and 2003 dynamics of indices characterising physical preparedness. The first year students’ testing results change curves are analysed and presumptions of causes, which relatively influenced peculiarities of this process, are presented. Comparison of the first year students’ physical characteristics testing results in 2002 and 2003 revealed that mean indices showing physical preparedness (explosive and general force, speed and strength endurance) differ statistically. Analyses of research material and curriculum content show that students’ selections as well as motivation for the necessity of top level physical preparedness make a positive influence on physical preparedness of future police officers. The motivation is expressed by purposeful initiatives: independent work in specialised gyms of strength development, attendance of sports sections, free choice of subjects (special physical preparedness) as well as active attendance of tutorials. Consequently, after 10 months of studies in 2002 and 2003 the results of the first year students became statistically similar (P>0,05), except for the indices of male and female hand strength. After the training practice male hand strength endurance decreased (p<0,01), as well as mean indices of female stomach strength endurance (p<0,05). Regardless of this, students’ physical preparedness remains relatively high and the students are capable of demonstrating the results, which are necessary for the persons of internal service.
