The processes of development of information society and knowledge-based economy are followed by structural and institutional changes. As a consequence, the model of employment and relations of production were affected as well. The process of transformation of employment and production's organization model proceeds in many countries. The transformation manifests itself by a tendency of increasing flexibility of the model. The main goal of this article is to investigate, how mentioned tendencies manifest in the model of employment in Lithuania and European Union in recent years (after the year 2000). My investigation shows that in EU countries (especially in Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, and UK) the model of employment becomes more flexible. The changes in Lithuanian model of employment are less noticeable; its model of employment is composed by "traditional" and "flexible" elements of the forms of employment organization. However, the attitude towards the process of work is changing and it is likely that flexible forms of organization of work will gradually settle in Lithuania as well. These processes are fostered by European Union Employment policy: the flexicurity remains one of underlying its areas, therefore there are developed recommendations for member countries, concerning the flexicurity, and there is allotted support from structural funds for the implementation of the reforms.
