Abstract
The article aims to analyze the role of rural neighborhoods as providers of social services in organizing and rendering of the social services. The problem is oriented towards provision of the services and performance improvement of social workers. With the purpose to evaluate the possibilities of social services’ provision in rural neighborhoods the article analyses the needs of rural dwellers for social services. The authors of the article emphasize the need for active involvement of service users in the process of its development, thought the results of the analysis of selected neighborhoods of Perini, Tricia and Kaunas districts show the opposite situation. In summary, based on the theoretical and practical analysis, the paper presents some key advantages and disadvantages of social services’ provision in rural areas.
