Respect for Human Rights is one of the main features of the democratic world. The Lithuanian nation restoring its independence already knew that it desires to take the path of democracy. The Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, adopted by citizens of the Republic of Lithuania in the Referendum of 25 October 1992 (hereinafter - the Constitution) declares that human rights are inherent rights. The nation’s representatives are under obligation by the Constitution to claim human rights and freedoms. The legislation procedure is regulated in such a way that all drafts of legislation under consideration must be assessed according to the correspondence with the Constitution, European Union Law and other international commitments in the field of human rights. In order to preserve the balance of all rights it is inevitable to observe the main principles of human rights protection and do not try to shape every true-life situation. Keywords: human rights, legal aid, equal opportunities policy, all forms of discrimination, rights of aliens, personal data protection, consumers’ rights.
