Socialiniai psichologiniai santuokinio partnerio pasirinkimo stereotipai
Changes in the Lithuanian society find expression in rapid and extensive alteration of family relations. The main alteration is the transition from traditional/hierarchical family model to modern family model. Both models need a new complementary system of family roles. The aim of the survey was to identify the social and psychological stereotypes leading to a choice of a marriage partner. 4000 people (2000 females and 2000 males) were questioned at the Internet page “Darni pora”. The survey was based on the premise that a selected family model would influence the preferences of a possible marriage partner. Nevertheless, the results of the investigation revealed a much more complex situation. A modern family model was accepted by one third of surveyed females and one fourth of males but the majority of those surveyed chose a traditional family model in certain areas of family relationship (for example, in family maintenance, looking after children) The surveyed people expressed preferences to a modern partner by emphasising the qualities of empathy and kindness, but as far as the qualities of active-passive and leadership- subordination were concerned, the roles were understood in a traditional way. The results of the survey disclosed that neither the traditional family model nor the modern one comply with the preferences of the majority of those surveyed. The majority of surveyed females and males based their partnership on both family models.
