One of the most significant issues dealt with in this article is related to the impact of the EU rules on the Labour Law of the Republic of Lithuania, which is currently under a reform, particularly – the resolution of labour disputes. The search for answers focuses on some important circumstances. The first one to be mentioned is that a certain influence has been made on the Labour Law of the Republic of Lithuania by the National Law of the European Union Member Countries. After having signed the mentioned treaties of association, it appeared that in addition to the regulation of trade, agriculture and other economic aspects, the European Communities try to regulate legal labour relations within the member states by emphasizing areas such as free movement of workers, equal gender opportunities and non-discrimination at work, safety of workers and their health care, non-typical labour forms, protection of workers’ interests, etc. It may be stated that the contemporary EU rules started their formation already in the framework of the European Communities. The second significant circumstance is that Lithuania became a member of the International Labour Organization in 1921, but the soviet occupation has terminated that membership.
