A. Kriščiukaitis left a bright trace in the history of Lithuanian legal science and legal language. Taking the position of the Chair of the Supreme Tribunal of Lithuania he also worked as a professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Lithuania. In 1923 he lectured on criminal law and on criminal procedure. A. Kriščiukaitis was an active member of the Council of Law Faculty. He was a member and the chairperson of different commissions nominated by the Council and contributed to arrangement of Law Faculty study plans. Among A. Kriščiukaitis’ other noteworthy endeavours – editing of legal science and practice magazine “Teisė” (Lith. – Law), which was important to Lithuanian society and Lithuanian lawyers. A. Kriščiukaitis was one of the founders of the magazine, its factual and Managing Editor, and, as evidenced by A. Kriščiukaitis’ contemporaries, permanent proof-reader, language corrector and even administrator. For eleven years, which coincided with the most difficult period of creation of the Lithuanian legal system, the legal science and practice magazine “Teisė” lead by its Managing Editor, has provided an analysis of the most important legal problems, passing the learning of legal science to lawyers and society, and waking up in people the desire of seeking the truth. A. Kriščiukaitis published the first translation into Lithuanian language of the Code of Criminal Procedure, has reviewed legal practice, edited the first systematized body of Lithuanian laws and the anniversary edition of “Lithuanian Court 1918–1928”. A. Kriščiukaitis’ writings were important to the legal science and practice. Antanas Kriščiukaitis’ works were most important to Lithuania – A. Kriščiukaitis took part in creation of Lithuanian legal system, administering and developing of the court system of Lithuania, educating young lawyers, creation of legal language and terminology, improving the society’s and lawyers’ legal culture.
