Preservation and nurturance of national heritage, production and development of national heritage objects are relevant not only for protecting the country’s ethnic uniqueness, but also for promoting historical-cultural tourism, enhancing the country’s economic growth, reducing inequalities between separate regions. Migration and emigration of the population, particularly expeditious in rural regions, not only affects negatively the country’s economic life, but also disturbs the transfer processes of traditions and lifestyles. One of the most recently emerged ways of preserving Lithuanian national heritage is the development of traditional handicraft centres. Such centres should represent the interests of traditional handicrafts, take care of the production and development of traditional products, provide traditional crafts training, consulting and other services. This article analyzes the value of national heritage products for the manufacturer and the consumer, the position of the national heritage in Lithuania, and the establishment perspective of handicraft centres. According to the statistical data the hypothesis is tested that the activity of national heritage craftspersons continues the traditions of experience transfer and forms the centre of craftsmen.
